Tobago is a wonderland of spectacular beaches and the oldest protected rain forest
in the Western Hemisphere. Its biodiversity includes coral reefs, savannah, mangrove
swamps and wetlands.
There are 210 species of birds on the
island, in a variety of habitats. Iguanas and snakes abound, but there are no poisonous species.
Leatherback turtles come ashore to lay their eggs from March to July, and can be watched
respectfully from some beaches.
